Our Mission Statement
Madonna House Inc, founded in 1987 by Rebecca Blonski, was incorporated in 1992. Its sole purpose is to serve infants and children exclusively, by profiding clothing, juvenile furniture, toys, infant formula, diapers, small household items, and other necessary items, completely free of charge.
Madonna House serves a range of children, from those who are homeless, to children of families faced with temporary financial difficulty. Children are referred to us by local and county welfare departments, hospitals, social service organizations, the VNA, professionals, schools, police departments, municipal courts, churches, and individuals.
Madonna House is not a crutch, but another valuable resource, allowing parents or guardians to better care for their children in temporary, emergency, or crisis situations. Since 1987, Madonna House, with the help of approximately twenty regular, devoted, compassionate volunteers has helpted literally thousands of local children.
The families and children that come to Madonna House are diverse in ethnicity, cultural background, race, religions, and beliefs. Madonna House is a Roman Catholic religious association, accepting people of all multiplicity. Out of pure love of God, Madonna House advocates the worthiness of each human being and embraces life as the greatest of all gifts.
Christ Our Lord, who died for each of us, commands us to love one another as He has loved us, adding: "Greater love than his no man hath that a man lay down his life for his friends." Knowing that each and every life is so very precious and special, Madonna House strives to serve each and every family that comes through the door, with the greatest of care. Not only do we offer to families the very best of material goods, which have been donated by the Grace of God, but our desire to help the poor and suffering is given through natural benevolence, because we cannot bear to see suffering without attempting to relieve it.
Most of the women coming to Madonna House live far below the poverty level. For many women the decision to give life and raise their child means a life of poverty. Madonna House is unique in our approach to helping others because of our total commitment and respect for all human life. If one encourages a positive approach to life, then true alternatives must be offered: Madonna House is one of those alternatives.
Madonna House is not funded by Federal, State, or local government. Madonna House is made possible only through private donations and the generosity of caring people and organizations. Madonna House is a 501.(c)(3) - fully tax-deductible, nonprofit organization.
